Due to an unhappy love affair, the Czernowitzer poet Siegfried Laufer committed suicide in Bucharest on 17.06.1933, as we learn from "today's" edition (p. 2), i. e 24.06.1933/2011, of "Der Tag - The Day", online available at:

Siegfried Laufer was among those famous poets from Bukovina, as Paul Celan, Rose Ausländer, Alfred Gong, Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger and many, many others, as marvelously listed by our fellow member Peter Elbau at:

Siegfried Laufer's oeuvre was appreciated by Hermann Hesse and published by "Wiener Tag", "Prager Tagblatt" and "Lesestunde".
