Siebenburgerstrasse - long ago.
When the Habsburgs annexed Galicia they took Bukovina too.
The reason for this was their need for a road connection to
Transylvania .
Transylvania was called Siebenburgen , the most important seven
castles or towns of this territory.
The access from the north was by the high Carpaths but from
by Suceava to the West there were easy passes.
This is the reason for which the south route from Czernowitz was
called Siebenburgerstasse.
