"Papirene kinder" (1936) is a play by two very prolific and famous
American playwrights William Siegel and Sol Steinberg, performed in
the theaters worldwide in the late 1930s. A song from this play,
"Mayn shteytele Molyev [Mogilev]" (music by Manny Fleischman, lyrics
by Chaim Tauber, who had the lead role in the New York premiere of the
play) was also popular at the time.

Many Czernowitz theatergoers, who enjoyed the idealized depiction of
Mogilev in the song, several years later went there under completely
unidyllic circumstances.

If anyone remembers, could tell me the exact title of the play in Yiddish. A friend of Paul Celan, David Seidmann, with whom I had many interviews in the 70's, had spoke about it. As I mention it in an article I'm writing just now - and I do have not found any reference on Google - let me quote if possible the exact title.
