        Hi Etan,
It is amazing how the ring between "Czernowitzer" came through,
thanks to our masters Bruce and Jerome...
It is a long story how Pearl Fischmann and me came together
after 70 years..I was visiting my friend Lotte Hirsch in New
Hampchire, she spoke at the telephone with Pearl, "Who is Pearl"
I asked Lotte, "it is Pufi Spiegel, do you remember her from
Czernowitz?he was one or two years younger than us"
I took the telephon and spoke to your late mother, "in 2,3 days
I will come to NY to see you, I told her."It was in 2001
" Oh, I am so sorry, we are moving tomorrow to Pittsburg".
To Pittsburg, oh I have a big question. Once upon the time at my
french course at the University in Geneva, Switzerland, I met a
student, Martha Ehrlich, we became friends, She told me that her
parents are still in Bamberg, Germany, but her brother is
already in Pittsburg, she is waiting for her parents than moving
also to USA.That was in December 1937. On 11 march 1938 I went
back to Vienna, arrived there with the nazi-german army, and
went back after 5 days to Czernowitz...
I was convinced that Martha arrived in Pittsburg and asked Pearl
to look around between the german emigrants for the Ehrlich
family...Amazing, your mother found Martha, spoke to her and I
got a long letter from her describing her life after 1938, her
parents could not get out and were deported to Auschwitz...
I have in my hands the letters from Pearl, if you wish I can
scan them for you...She sent me also the manuscript of
"Before memories pale", after so many years, I found inside the
letters and some articles in newspapers, about her invitation to
the german theater to the Selma Merbaum-representation...with
picture of her with her husband and grandson Michael... and the
        artists and regisor, she sent.
Best regards, old woman have many stories to tell...
        Hedwig
