First the orientation: North is on the right hand side .
The Prut runs from upside down.
If you look at square S15 you find the Aasplatz that is the carcass field
and in it the Wasenmeisterei - the tanners processing workshop.
Here the carcasses were discomposed for usable components.
The unusable left - overs were then burned in the open.
The smell was accordingly.
The tanners were not accepted by the society and intermarried
only in the guild locally or with guild members in Europe.
Very old guild- the Schinders.
If there was an execution in town , a little town as Czernowitz could
not afford a full time executioner , the Schinders did the job .
For a fee they would do the job with the trade expertise.
This is the story of just one square of the map.
There are about 400 squares .
