[Cz-L] I've got to share this

Last night I called Hedwig Brenner in order to tell her how much I enjoy reading her book "Mein Altes Czernowitz" for the second time.
I had purchased the book quite a while ago, and as soon as I had received it, - as I am always I am in a hurry - I went through it like a marathon, turning pages hastily and looking at the wonderful photos just as quick as possible.

And then, the day before yesterday, I took the book again into my hand and read it in leisure. I had the same feeling that i get when lI listen to a beautiful symphony which I've heard before but which I did not allow to move me as deeply as it could.

Hedy is several years older than I am, as far as Czernowitzers are concerned, I land somewhere in the middle, Hedy's friends were not my own friends, while my own friends have left Czernowitz for other parts in the world, and many of them are just gone to maybe a Czernowitz in heaven..

However, thanks to this book I made a beautiful although very nostalgic trip back, to streets, buildings, situations all of them part of a
glorious childhood and afterwards a few troubled teenage years.

I've lived in three different continents, in many different cities, but I realize that no matter how and when I've remained a complete product of the city of my birth.
