I was not ashamed nor proud with the Yellow star, I was too little.
The required star was formed from 2 overlayed equilateral triangles made
of cardboard trimmed with yellow cloth and sawn together.
More sophisticated versions were cut our of plywood leaving only the
laterals.
The yellow star was not a Nazi invention.
It is over 1000 years old and started in the Holy Roman Empire,
together with pointed hats and other apparel to distinguish Jews
from the locals. Almost all of Europe adopted some method for
marking of the Jews.
It was also meant to stigmatize the bearer.
Jews lived with it for centuries.
Only in the mid 18- th century it was abolished.
bY The European Emancipation decrees.
But the hating of Jews prevailed.
This is what mattered ,not the Star.

In the old ages Jews were easily discernible even without the Star.
