Starting with the arrival of the Seibalds from Sniatyn in the
mid-1920's, this van Ditzhuizen for the first time details the initial
resistance of the old Sephardi community of Curacao to the newcomers,
the latter's eventual commercial success and their tight knit
community. With names familiar to Czernowitzers, like Fuhrman,
Faerman, Tauber, Kisilevich, Altnaj, Sterental, Weisinger and many
more. Included are many photos, including our Lucca playing the
accordion for three performing children (one of whom is my sister
Rita). My own narrative describes growing up in this community in the
1950's, the start of a post-war golden age.
