RE: [Cz-L] New To List - Descendant of Halpern and Schnapp

Just a note to say that since I started my research activity, I have
discovered the following:

1. My family - Halpern or Halperin was from Zastavna
2. My great grandmother Feige was killed by the Nazis
3. Due to the witness statement in the Yad Vadshem database, I was able to
learn the next two items (shows how important it is to document events!)
4. My grandfather had four siblings, not one as I thought. One of them, Regina
was originally married to Mendel Hausel who was killed by the Nazis
5. One of my grandfather's sibling's sons and two of my grandfather's
siblings' grandchildren live here in Israel and we met up for the first time
last week in a very emotional meeting. We compared pictures and found we had
several of the same pictures - mine having traveled to Israel via the USA and
their via Bukovina
6. I have several other relatives in the US from my grandfather's other
siblings

Thanks to all of you for your support and words of encouragement. Is there
anyone out there with family from Zastavna from the turn of the 20th century?

I'm new to the list as of yesterday. David Leichner originally of Queens, New
York and for the last 23 years I've been living in Israel - Nof Ayalon.

I am working on my family's background and have found lots of old pictures
amongst my siblings from Czernowitz - from the Halpern and Schnapp families.

Does anyone on the list have any contact or come from these families?
