Dear Anny,
I read your story. The bitterness we all feel is quite understable. When I tell my story in schools or in talks to organizations, I always tell them to ltsten to many stories. The stories may all be different, yet they all refer to the same tragedy hoisted upon our people. You speak of our quick transit from childhood to security, Were we really ever children?

Frieda dear,
you're so right about 44 and I can well feel with you where "liberation" was concerned. We were on our way to Siberia and escaped through the ear of a needle (It's in my life story if you're interested) as for being "liberated" of all possessions, so was I, but, we had a short transit from childhood and security, didn't we?
Regards,
anny

Dear Anny,
As you noticed, I did put the word "liberated" in quotation marks. In 1940, when the Soviets came in, we were living in Lipcani and within three weeks we were "liberated" of all we possessed and had to flee to Czernowitz where my uncle, out of the goodness of his heart, allowed to live in one room of his apartment. There we all lived in fear of arrest and deportation to Siberia.
However, in 1944, had the Soviets not won, none of us would probably be here today. I think, sooner or later, all of us would have been part of Hitler's final solution.
