[Cz-L]Two Murder Victims: Dawid Hitzig and Ion Gheorghe Duca

Seventy-eight years ago today, a murder out of jealousy took place in the open street on Neueweltgasse and inflamed passions in Czernowitz. The tax collector Stefan Grossu fired four shots at the 55 years old restaurant owner Dawid Hitzig, as we learn from "today's" edition (p. 3), i. e. 16.11.1933/2011, of "Der Tag":

At exactly the same time, in Bucharest, Ion Ghorghe Duca, a great hope for the Jews and the democracy in Romania, made his oath as new Romanian Prime Minister (p. 1):

Less than six weeks later, on 29.12.1933, Ion Gheorghe Duca will be shot to death on the platform of the Sinaia train station by Iron Guard-members and the fatal swing to the right in Romania (and elsewhere) took its course.
