Thank you Hardy for this beautiful photograph.
As to moving to various addresses in Czernowitz:
Most of us probably moved a lot.
I left Czernowitz when I was eight years old, but in those 8 years
had managed to live at 5 different addresses;
the house where I was born, the house to which we moved in 1940,
so as not to be considered "burjui", the house in the ghetto,
the apartment of friends, because our own house as well as the one
we had rented during the Russian period, had been taken by Romanians
and the "Boden-Wohnung" (attic apartment) in which we lived from
1942 till 1945. This "apartment" consisted of one room, a kitchen and
a WC.
My parents, my mother's brother, my father's sister, our cat "Minzia"
and I.
Compared to Transnistria it was the garden of Eden.
And I still have very happy memories of it.
