Hardy, was a renaissance man. Aside from his scientific (math and physics)
side, he was a lecturer on and in Yiddish, he also wrote a paper a few
years back about Paul Celan's life and poetry. We were close friends since
1942, when we met in the "Viehwagon" carrying us to Transnistria. He was as
they say in Cz "A Mentsch", those who knew him will miss him a lot. He was
also an epicure, a great maven of California wines.

Indeed, very sad news. He was a classmate of my younger brother during
the
1940-1941 period. I even had a chance to talk to him on phone.
