Ilana,
What amazes me about this picture is the subjects' unawareness of the
camera.
 The man who snapped this picture was standing 3-4 yards away.
  Usually people stare at the camera trying to look their best.
   Here the subjects copletely ignore the camera.
    Berti's dad is concentrating on making a point.
      Making this picture a " natural".

I've looked at this picture all my life wondering what they were talking
about. I never met my grandfather but knew many details about his
personality. We don't often see friends like this walking down the street
arm in arm here in the States. I know they were very close and Berti's Dad
tried very hard to help my grandfather before he was arrested and deported
to Siberia in 1945.
