Dear Hardy,
I have traced all branches of my family, have been working on this
since 1993.
My family came from: Lida, Belarus, Vilnius, Lithuania, Sejny, Suwalki
gubernia, Poland, Bender (Tighina), Moldova (Bessarabia), Piatra Neamt,
Romania and - all over Bukovina, primarily Radautz.
One set of great-grandparents went to Philadelphia, USA in 1890,
another at that same time came to Montreal, Canada. Another
set of great-grandparents came to Montreal in 1901. My Kastner
grandfather came to Montreal in 1900, following two of his brothers,
the rest of his siblings followed before 1939, except for one who
stayed in Radautz with distrastrous results - Transnistria - as did
some of his cousins. My Kastner great-grandparents stayed in
Radautz but died in the early part of the 20th century, long before
WWII. My ex-husband's family came from Belchatow, Poland,
Starry Chartorysk, Ukraine and Dubno, Poland.
I have written books on the family history of all these branches,
having completed the last one in January of this year.
This was done so that my children and grandchildren will know
who their ancestors were and how they lived. At present, I have
compiled names of 9,650 relatives, some deceased, others living.
If anyone would like to know how to begin their family research,
I can send them a list of resources to use.
Merle
