Dear Czernowitzers,
The film is part of the NY Jewish Film Festival at Lincoln Center in New Yor=
k.
"My Song Goes Round The World" /Richard Oswald | England | 1933 | 85m
A musical film showcasing the talents of the great tenor Joseph Schmidt (190=
4-1942), known as the Jewish Caruso. Paralleling Schmidt=92s own life story,=
this drama by Richard Oswald (Different from the Others, NYJFF 2000) tells t=
he tale of a talented singer who finds challenges in both his career and his=
love life because he is less than 5 feet tall. Schmidt, who also performed a=
s a cantor and radio star, sings with great power and passion in this charmi=
ng and humorous film set in Venice.
If any of the NY area members plan to see it on Sun Jan 22, 1pm, please let m=
e know. It would be nice to meet and share impressions afterwards.=20
Best,
Ina=20
