My name is Yossi Yagur, and I'm one of the "almost silent" group members.
I'm 61, I was born and live in Israel, and have 3 children.
I've never been in Czernowitz and do not intend to travel there. As a matter
of fact, even my direct ancestors of the JURGRAU family didn't live there.
So, what on earth am I doing here? Why do I bother to read all this
correspondence?
Doing some research regarding the JURGRAU family (mainly assisted by the
late Dorin Fraenkel), I've established a database of all members this family
I could trace. It appears that almost all of them may be related to five
people, who lived in Bukovina in the early 1800s, most of them In Radautz.
One branch of the JURGRAU family lived in Czernowitz in the early 1900s, and
this is a sufficient reason for me to be on this list. As a matter of fact,
one of this family members, Benjamin JURGRAU, who died in Madrid fighting in
the Spanish civil war, was already mentioned in some discussion here.
BTW, my wife's mother Ruth GRUENBERG nee BICKEL was born in Radautz, but her
family lived in Czernowitz for few years. As a matter of fact, her mother
Miriam BICKEL nee KATZ passed away in Czernowitz on 1938, and is buried
there. This is another example of the circular nature of events.
So, keep on writing, and I'll keep on reading. And in case you have some
information about JURGRAU family members - I'll be glad to be informed.
