Dear all,

Czernowitz is everywhere.
I just spent four fascinating days in Santiago and met two Czernowitz descendants: Sally Bendersky, an active member of our list whom I contacted after reading her recent posts, and Karen Poniachik, the director of Columbia University's new global center in Chile whose inauguration I just attended. Karen's grandfather is from Czernowitz and her grandmother from Gura Humora.

It was great to share stories about Czernowitz at such a distance. And to meet two such distinguished women who have worked as ministers and ambassadors!

Marianne
