To Czernowitz it came from Poland or even better - Galizia.
With the immigrants (There was no Poland in the old time.)
We all know where our Yiddish generated.
But then it went to the East and
there it went into a mixing pot of a few centuries were Slavonic
and other Eastern spices were added.
Then down Carpathian way were it met the Gypsies
and the Valachs .
This is how it was handed down to us...
