Dear Czernowitzers,

Several years ago, the LDS Family History Library microfilmed the Jewish
community birth, marriage and death records, plus indices, from the
Czernowitz Regional Archive. They cover the period 1856-1929.

(See section I.C. At
<http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/sadgura/ReischToronto.html> for a
listing of these microfilms).

I'd like to announce a project to create an electronic, internet
searchable, database from the microfilmed indices among these records.
Daniel Horowitz has already conducted a pilot project, and is excited to
lead the continuation of the project. The indices give you information
about the year of the event, parent name in the case of birth records, and
the volume and record number. Having the record number will make it much
easier to find the actual record in the microfilms themselves, as within
year, these records are recorded sequentially.

Daniel has created a set of electronic images from the microfilms that can
be readily distributed as email attachments. Now, what he needs, is an
army (navy and air force too) of willing volunteers, able to view old
style handwriting (guidance available!) and, willing to enter data
precisely into an Excel template.

Volunteers unite! Please contact Daniel Horowitz
