ROOTS

The things and I know but most I don't so I tell what I do.

My name now is Anny Matar ( Hebrew for first rain,) which originally
was Forschirm.
My maiden name was Fleischer-Gelband.
My mother, Jeanette, was a born Peretz from Radautz. She came from a
large family, so large that I thought everyone in Czernowitz was
related to me. I know that my grandparents lived in Eisenau where they
had a "Kolonialwahren" (sort of mini market, I guess). My grandfather
Shloime Landau, served in the Turkish army 1800s . My grandmother Hana
Peretz/Landau died before I was born, therefor my name Anny. When they
moved to Czernowitz I don't know, I know that my mother, born 1896,
went to school in the city.

1938 my mother married Mendel (Max) Gelband, I know nothing about him
except that he had a son,Marcel (Cello) 10years older than I, who
lived in Paris under Romanian papers, was betrayed, sent to Auschwitz
died in April 1945 (Nineteen forty five!!!)

I know very little about my father's family Adolf Fleischer. He died
after a long illness (since I was born) in 1934. I know that his
parents lived in Strojonetz. He had two brothers and three sisters.
They all lived in Czernowitz.

In 1944, after a long trip, (this story I'll still write) to Israel.
We have 2 children - our son Michael (Psychiatrist - heading Trauma
Clinic - in Beer-Sheva) married a beautiful Moroccan girl, has three
daughters honey coloured, daughter Tallya English teacher (like Mamma)
now working and introducing teaching "making learning by and with
computer fun". She is a teacher's teacher (coaching) has two daughters
and one son now serving in the Israeli Armed Forces.
