Hi all!
When I fist learned about the Khazan people during WWII I was very proud to
hear that there were people or a whole PEOPLE who wanted to become Jewish.
I heard Alex's joke but with a twist - A black man reading a Yiddish paper
in the Subway and a man asking him "Do you speak Yiddish" answer Avvadde
(sure),(here you can go on and on) and the man's answer is the same. In the
end the Jew said "are you Jewish? and the black man says "Dus fehlt mir
noch!!" (That's all I need). I ask myself why did the Khazan people do it!!
or why did Johnson write "A jewish history"> As Johnson begins his book he
wrote a Chrstian and Muslim history and found that there is ONE common
beginning - The Bible. There is something that attracts people to us or
hate us limitless.
I once mentioned it. In the 50s I read an article that after WWII a mirror
was removed at the Imperial palace for the first time since it was built
and they found a writing at the back which no one could decipher until they
found it was Hebrew and a verse of the Songs of Songs from the Bible.
I remember it well because I worried about the Japanese influx into our
small country, Israel, that's where I live.
For our Independence Day there is always a large Japanese delegation
present.
The word wandering Jew has not been used in vain. Our blood has been mixed
and is being mixed again. We were a dark skinned people and inter-marriage
will make it so again. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!
