When I was little my knowledge of Jews as a people was very restricted.
Mass media was primitive and limited. No radio.
I imagined a jewish world with Czernowitz in its center.
   with a 100 - 200 km radius around it.
Only later I found also that jews also lived in Lemberg , Lodz and Warsaw.
Prag and Vienna also had some. But all looking and speaking like us.
Then our Yiddish teacher Ginniger returned from Stalingrad and told
us of the Kaukas Jews - the mountain people who did not speak Yiddish.
And then people returned from Uzbekistan who told us of local jews.
Then in Cyprus when I was , they detained a shipload of Moroccan
       Jews .
         A new world opened up.
I learned that we were not the core of Judaism.
