To add to Hardy's vocabulary of Ukrainian words in Yiddish:

Temneh is dark
Bloteh is mud
Szabeh is frog
kaliker is a person with a physical disability
barbulie is a potato
Zibulyeh is an onion
szmenieh is a handful
Chainik is a tea kettle

and one correction:
Paskudniak is not a low character, but more exactly the word means
an unsavory person.

It would also be interesting to know what Hebrew or Yiddish words
were taken up by Ukrainian.
