RE: [Cz-L] Tachke and more Yiddish

Apropos paskudnyak - for those of you who understand Hebrew - recall the
song Yidishe Piraten, composed by Yoram T'Har Lev, who used this word in its
proper sense (it was sung by the Israeli Navy band) as well as many other
juicy Yiddish words.

את הרעיון לכתיבת השיר הזה הביא ליורם הבמאי (המיתולוגי!) של הלהקות הצבאיות,
דני ליטאי. הייתה אגדה מסתורית שסיפרה על ספינה של שודדי ים יהודיים המסתובבת
על פני האוקיינוסים ומטילה חיתתה על יורדי הימים. בשיר שיבצתי כמה מושגים
באידיש ושמות ערים וארצות במזרח אירופה. השיר בוצע קרוב מאוד למבצע שבו "חטפו"
אנשי חיל הים ספינות טילים מנמל שרבורג בצרפת והשיטו אותן לישראל, ולכן רבים
ייחסו אותו לאותו מבצע.
The song was based on a mysterious legend that told a story about a ship of
Jewish pirates that roams the oceans and puts its fright on sailors. Since
it was performed pretty close to the Cherbourg op, when the navy succeeded
to snatch its rocket launching boats from its harbour, many connected it to
this op.
