Hi Edgar, Thanks for the article in the FAZ, very interesting, but has some
mistakes. As Mimi said, the number is not 15000 perished Jews, but 19.000,m.
Bursuk, as Bursug, but I found an other mistake..In Parag. 4 he wrote about
the University inside the Mitr.Residence from "1875", Until 1940 the
Residence was a religion orthdoxe site, the Soviets transformed the church
besides in an atheist laboratory and the big palace located there the
"Medizinski Part of the university...In 1875 the Austrians opened the first
university in a big building in the University Street, for law and
philosophy.....and 1945 the residence become definitively the University for
medicine....I know some friends who came back from Kazakstan to Czernowitz,
Jews, who faught in the red army, and their son, born in the Sov.Union, was
mot aloud to study medicine in Czernowitz, only in Tomsk. So it was "Numerus
nullus" for Jews at the Uni in Czernowitz.
Shabbat Shalom
Hedwig

Czernowitzers...

To all of you, who read German, I'd like to draw your attention to an
article, published by the famous German daily newspaper taz on 21.04.2012

http://www.taz.de/1/archiv/digitaz/artikel/?ressort=ku&dig=2012%2F04%2F21%2Fa0020&cHash=d1f80cf896

or

http://tinyurl.com/6sj33gr

covering the Czernowitz Nostalgia, describing the Jewish Cemetery Project
and making a wonderful portrait of Dr. Josef Bursuk.

Enjoy the article!
