If I may add something small : "UDER NE BRUDER SHVAT NE BRAT" which is a
mixture of Yiddish and Ruthenian. It says that the Jewish month "Adar" is no
brother and the Jewish month "Shvat" is no brother . The words "Uder"
"Bruder" and "Shvat" are Yiddish the rest Ruthenian. The background is that
those two months fall generally at the height of the winter when it's very
cold - therefore they are defined as hostile. Professor Yavets had a
collection of all those proverbs and some of them he published in the books
about Czernowitz that he wrote.
