We were good Rumanians.
Born in Rumania under the rule of our King Carol the Second
who was the protector of our country.
Therefore we sang every morning in kindergarten "Long live the King".
The King had a brown shining helmet with a white horsetail on top.
He was the defender of the land against all the alien people who
coveted our land and wanted to rob us of our riches.
The English , French , Germans all wanted our land.
They wanted our kukuruz and sun flowers because of the mamaliga
and seeds to crack.
But our King wouldn't let them have it !
Only the Gypsies succeeded getting in because they produced copper
cauldrons in which they boiled the chicken they stole from the village
streets.
" Long live our King , in peace and Honor,
Loving of the peace and defender of our country,"
Every morning in the kindergarten with cropped hair and a tricolor
tie on the blue halat under the observing eyes of the Doamna who was
an ethnic Rumanian.
