We should be very glad that at least one headstone from the old cemetery
is preserved and on display at the Turkish steps. I am also glad that
a photograph of this headstone was put on display on "livejournal".
At the time of the rebuilding of the Turkish steps, the then curator of the
Jewish Museum, tried very hard to have some headstones preserved, but did
not succeed. Possibly the new director of the museum, Mykola Kushnir, has
been more successful.

and non-Jewish people, who would like to preserve the Jewish heritage
of the city. Let's hope that they will succeed.
