Dear Linda,
 I am from Czernowitz and live in Haifa.
  If a majority of Israeli Cz-er do so , I dont know.
   But if it's true there must be a reason:
1. Haifa is the nearest major town to Czernowitz .Geographically,
  -( this is the most ridiculous statement ever.)
2. Haifa was the town of the German Jews - the Yekkes.
    Czernowitzer felt at home in the Herzlstrasse and Nordaustrasse.
    Kept their money at the Ellern and Feuchtwanger Bank
    Banks you could trust.
3. Tel Aviv was a place settled by Polish and Russian Jews.
    The cream of Zionist Jewry.
    Bukovina jews were considered Rumanian and looked down on.
4. Jerusalem was too - everything.
   Yes and I almost forgot :
 Haifa is the most attractive town in Israel
  and has some very good Rumanian restaurants.
