Somebody, probably Hardy, once gave us a link for a contemporary picture of=
 a goat herder with=A0 half a dozen goats coming up Herrengasse.=A0 I suspe=
ct he was a part time car mechanic.=A0 I visited Bucharest in 1994 and also=
 didn't notice any service stations but a Romanian film man who was showing=
 me around got his nephew to come from near the Danube's delta with his car=
 so that we could get around. All of a sudden it needed expensive repairs a=
nd guess who had to pay for it.=A0 I don't recall any big sign or anything =
to identify the repair place but they knew where to go and get new tires, t=
oo.=A0 They're still modest in Eastern Europe and people who need parts and=
 repairs learn where to find them.=A0 At the time, all the accountants and =
engineers and economists and lawyers were starving but the=A0mechanics and =
plumbers and sheep herders up in the hills were doing fine, buying cottages=
