Well, if you are not comfortable with this, then it's okay, but
I still think you qualify.

My grandfather left Radautz in 1900 to come to Canada.

but in my case, my dad left the region to be adopted in Vienna before WW1.
He came here to England before WW2 and I was only born here in 1947 - seems
different to most.

Aw c'mon Mike, send me your picture - have someone take one of you.
You are a list member and that is all that counts.

(I'm not a Czernowitzer either - I'm a Radautzer, really)

Merle:

To be honest, I don't know any Raths in my family. My father didn't talk
much - well, didn't talk at all - about his family, so the question of
relatives never came up. I have tried to follow up various Raths from the
Internet, but none have so far declared themselves to be family. Now I'm
interested in Schärfs as well - who I think would have been related to
dads's adoptive aprents, but I'd be surprised if anything comes back.

Sorry, can't send any photos - don't actually have any on my computer - and
with no real connections to the other Czernowitzers, there wouldn't be any
point.

Dear Michael,

Are you related to Dana Rath who lives in Montreal?

And please do send me your photo, so that I can put in the
Photos of List Members Album on the Ehpes site - it would
be my pleasure to include you, as you are a list member, too.

Best regards,

Merle

Hopefully got this plain text thing fixed now, so I'll repeat the theme of
my previous e-mail.

Only recently found that my father's mother's name was Sprinze Schärf. My
father was adopted by the Rath family in Vienna and I think that the Raths
were connected to the Schärf side of the family. If the name Sprinze Schärf
means anything - or you know of a connection between Raths and Schärfs, I'd
be interested to hear from you.

Another thing I found out only recently was that my father had a half sister
I knew nothing about. I'd be interested to know if anyone recognises a Mina
who married Louis Rennert.
