Dear All
Yesterday while looking for something mislaid (a common phenomenon with me) I found a pack of Tarock playing cards that belonged to my late father Oscar-Ezra Wolf. This reminded me of a small group of Czernowitz old timers that lived in Haifa and used to meet every week for a Tarock party. The wives who accompanied the husband players made up a social group for themselves. This lasted through the sixties, seventies, and even one or two years in the eighties but then stopped for obvious reasons. This was a small nature reserve of old Czernowitz life style from which - when I accidentally happened to be there - I heard a lot of the old gossip of the town.
