Hi Paul! In the case of Czechoslovakia you are correct....but the break-up
of Yugoslavia led to a major war, with the mass murders in Bosnia etc.
Strangely enough, the murder of the Austrian Crownprince in Sarajevo was
orchestrated by the Serb intelligence services..and the recent war in the
region was also driven to a large extent by Serbia. Cornel

Without commenting on Austria Hoch or not, I wonder about the
speculations " what would have happened if" without considering other
causes or occurrences, perhaps more important events and social and
intellectual developments in Europe that would have achieved the
break-up of a multinational Empire, a few years later, without a war.
We have seen what happened to Yugoslavia or even to Czechoslovakia,
without wars, and of the Soviet Union in time of peace. Significant
revolutionary changes occur when the time is ready for it; a suitable
occasion is just the trigger for its outburst.
