Hi Gershon,
If you are the youngest son of Bubi Schatzberg and Saly, nee Fang...it is
amazing, Saly was my best friend, classmate and lived in my neighbourhood,
corner Residenzgasse-Dreifaltigkeitsgasse. I visited very often the family,
they were owner of a shop for feathers and "coldres"in the Herrengasse and a
factory in the Wassergasse, for "Daunendecken" (dawn-quilts), once Saly
took me to the factory, to show me how the quilt was done...I remember that
Saly has an elder sister Frieda or Fritzy and a brother Isiu.. During the
deportations to Siberia Saly was hidden by Bubi Schatzberg, her parents were
deported. She married Bubi S.who was a dentist=physition and I met her in
Bucarest in the 60th..the same day when her eldest son Guido came back from
his studies in Milanoi//her sister Fritzy was living there...The family
emigrated to Tel-Aviv, and I saw Saly very often after our Allyia...She told
me about the car-accident of Guido, after some hours he died, about the
other son who emigrated to USA and about you, Gerry, the youngest...After 50
years they divorced...I visited her often in the "Beth avod", where she
lived, she passed away some years ago...
So this is the story...If you are travelling to Cz. you will find the house
opposite the catholic church, the entrance from the Residenzgasse....
Please excuse that I told you the whole story, but it came out, like a
source, because I loved Saly very much...
