inspired by all this talk about "povidla," which for some reason I
know of as Lekvar, I stopped by my local Russian store to buy a jar of
it. Some years back when I lived in the country and had wood stoves I
would make preserves for the winter - among them pickles, jams and
Jellies, I used to make lekvar using prunes - cuts down on cooking
time and actually doesn't need the addition of sugar because the
prunes are sweet enough.....
