Etnic cleansing has many facets. Why should one be suprised..

You notice changes and wonder!! You see changes and you wonder
what next. When I see more current pictures of Czernowitz I see
restorations of old building with painted facades, I see churches
with gleaming domes. Churches of various denominations even though
some of these are no more resident in the area. Yet, a people that
has contribuited to the greatness of the city in no uncertain value
can't have remembrances. Changes in street names of anybody
but Jewish namesake. The Temple can't be restored as a memorial to
the Jews of Czernowitz because of lack of money. One must question
what happened to the properties that came into the hands of the city
authorities. What happened to the rents the authorities receive from
these properties who benefits???
It pleases me to notice people like Hardy bring to attention these
interesting changes, a vanishing world.
Please do not knock my head off.

Subject: [Cz-L] Henry Barbusse street .

In old Czernowitz were the Groisse Shil is ,there  was the Shilgass
Synagogengasse of Habsburg times.
The Soviet renamed it to Barbusse str. after a Franch communist
and novelist,
After the expiring of the Soviet Union , independent Ukraina removed
all the Soviet marks and street names ,a period they want to forget,
All but Henry Barbusse street .
So independent free Ukraina honors a French Bolshevik.
  In the Shilgass of Czernowitz.
  Isn't this strange ? Hardy
