I left Czernowitz in May or June 1945 and do not remember this obelisk,
but earlier, possibly already in 1944, there hung on the north-east
corner
of the Rinplatz, a huge (2 or 3 stories high) banner of Stalin
and a loudspeaker blasted Russian patriotic songs.
