Moreover, it should also be noted that even during "the good old days", the
Temple and the perception it represented were not acceptable to Orthodox
Judaism. The rabbis who lead nowadays the Jewish life in Czernowitz are
Orthodox rabbis and therefore dealing with the Temple is not their top
priority. Those who care may console themselves with the pictures of Jews
celebrating and dancing on the Ringplatz with the Torah Scrolls which were
brought into the renovated Korn Shill.

Subject: Re: [Cz-L] Article about the possible sale or lease of the Tempel
I have heard this sort of comment from others.
But Josef Burg is dead, Rabbi Glisenshtain did have the star of David
straightened on the Leichenhalle (here called Necropolis Beit Kadishin).
Joseph Zissels plans to have the building restored in order to have
a Jewish museum in it.
But in general, the current Jewish inhabitants of Chernivtsi do not have
roots in Czernowitz and do not care this much about the Jewish heritage.
They tend to "lie low" and to "bend with the wind".
Or as they say: he who has been burned once, blows on cold.
It may help to write to R' Menachem Mendel Glissenshtain.
Preferably you should write in Hebrew - those who can do so, please do.

I am leaving this evening on a trip and cannot do more now.
