I don't recall any washing basins at the train station (vokzal) during the
Soviet times-not in the 70s. It looked much better and cleaner than it
looks now. So was the "Jovten" cinema aka The Temple.
By the way, I spoke to my cousin Misha (the insider). He misses the economic
stability of the Soviet times as most locals do. Misha wouldn't mind if Mr
Zabrodski leased it and kept it in a good order. The Temple/Chernivtzi
cinema looks very neglected inside. And yes, I was right, even with my
forgotten Ukrainian: "peredati" is to lease out; not "prodati-meaning to
sell.
But, as Misha is saying, no transaction will be happening now as the news
about the Temple are out in the open and the corrupted rulers of Chenivtzi
would wait till the next opportunity arises.
