Hi Andy, hi Hardy,
Please, nobody is perfect, and my English is bad enough, I know, and
nevertheless I have the "chuzpah" or the courage to answer to some members
of the list... and you, like so many other members of the list, living in an
English-speaking country, are not so perfect in the German language, and for
that purpose we have "our Hardy" for translations, for pictures, for
histories...
One thing is the link between us...Czernowitz, the memories, the pictures,
the stories, the roots...and all of us, I believe, are grateful to the
initiator of this wonderful association, to Bruce, Jerome,Edgar, Hardy,
Merle, and all the others, who made cookbooks, photo-albums,and let us
revive on-line the past times.
Best wishes for Channucca to all the members
Hedwig

Hardy -

Why don't I write like Hedwig? Is that a question or suggestion or
complaint? I think I can answer all of them: For the same reason that you
don't write like Sholem Aleichem. Because I'm not Hedwig and you are not
Sholem. We do the best we can with what we have. Let's move on to another
subject. This one got stale. Try Brinza. It never goes bad. In the New
World nobody knows Brinza. They all know Feta. In a cheese shop when they
have some Brinza from Romania, they call it Romanian Feta. If the Romanians
had got off their tuches and exported Brinza before the Greeks exported Feta
today they would be talking about Greek Brinza and nobody would know Feta -
like Mamaliga - nobody knows it. If you want to explain it, you have to say
it's Polenta from Romania.
