[Cz-L] scam IN czernowitz-l digest: December 03, 2012

Mimi sent the note below about a suspected scam. IT IS A SCAM!

This scam is used when the sender's address book has been "hacked" usually,
by hacking the email account password. A mail robot [mailbot] is inserted
into the email system of the sender and it sends messages that the sender is
in trouble. The sender is always in a foreign country, always in a very
frightening situation.

ALWAYS A FAKE! The idea is to have you send money to the person but the
actual receiver is the crook who sent the email.

Often this happens with yahoo.com email accounts. In our temple chavurah
[20 people] at lease three yahoo email accounts were hacked. I've never
seen this happen with a gmail.com email account but that does not mean they
can't be hacked.
