Whenever a holy day came , my Babe took the Tsene-rene out of the
cupboard and read a few pages.
This was the Yiddish version of the Bible meant for the
non- Hebrew readers , mostly women .
The Hebrew readers didn't understand what they read.
My Babe understood it all .
It was in Yiddish and thus not sanctified.
She had a special relation with the Creator.
