Another recollection of this park from my late mother's book,
"I got to know, at least by sight, many other faithful lovers of that place=
. Some people sat at a certain bench daily. Their muse met them at that par=
ticular spot. I remember going to the park with Paul Celan (Antschel) and h=
e carried a volume of Rilke poetry. He stood up on a bench and started read=
ing a poem, while I was standing and enjoying the poetry as well as the lyr=
ical sound of his voice. Something romantic as well as intellectual was per=
meating our activities. We talked of matters of feeling and of the intellec=
t; nobody paid attention to making money or considering jobs; we were teena=
gers then; we lived frugally, left the making of a living to our parents."

I also remember it well. It was such a peaceful place. It was a day's pic-n=
ick and wandering through woods. I remember one morning, 1940, when my frie=
nds and I decided to satisfy our "Wanderlust" and walk to and from the Habs=
burgshoehe. When I woke in the morning, I looked with apprehension up at th=
e sky and worried whether the weather will remain fair- one thing we never =
have to worry about in Israel- and whether we'll go or not as my basket fi=
lled with goodies was standing and waiting, the phone rang - waking my pare=
nts holiest of holy- ; we're off rain or shine. It was such an unforgettabl=
e excursion because soon the black cloud of occupation darkened that sunny =
memory.
Hedwig has a beautiful memory of Zezina or the Habsburgs Hoehe and the Boji=
Bo. Please write again!!
