Dear Mimi,

I understand very well what you are talking about. At my job we even created in behalf of the German ministry of consumers protection a campaign to make young people aware of data privacy in social networks. http://www.watchyourweb.de so far reached millions of young people, but one point can not be denied: People are at facebook.

A proposal: As soon as not beeing a member of a certain social network means social exclusion, the network should be taken over into public ownership.
