Dear Hardy,
I have a good friend who, just after her marriage
in 1969, took a very special trip for their honeymoon.
They bought a car when their plane landed and drove all over
for months, then went to Israel. They toured Romania, but
did not go to Czernowitz (where her husband, now late
husband) lived until 1947, as going to Ukraine was
too difficult under Soviet rule. Her husband's family was allowed
to stay in Cz. as his father was manufacturing pripecheks and
they were essential to life in the city. His name was
Simon Gartenberg, her maiden name is Burman (from
the Wiznitz area) - both Bukoviners.
She doesn't want to subscribe to the Cz list, but whenever
you send a photo such as this one, I forward it to her.
So, thanks from Bryna Burman Gartenberg in Montreal!
Merle
