Prof. Zvi Yaavetz left us today.

Zvi Yaavetz was born in Czernowitz in 1925 to the Zucker family.
He managed to jump from a train to Transnistria, and after long trip came t= o Palestine.

When he realized that his family perished, he changed his name to his Mothe= r name Yaavetz.

He was one of the founder of Tel Aviv University, and the first Dean of the= Faculty of Humanities.

In 1990 he won Israel Prize in the Humanities.

In 2007 he wrote a book of his childhood in Czernowitz- "My Czernowitz".
