Well, at last we get some numbers!
It appears that my own account of the anecdotal evidence of a significant
proportion of "German Jews" among the colourful mix of Bessarabians and
"Sovietishe Yuden" residing in Chernovtsy was very close to the source.
I would also like to see a confirmed data related to the Jewish population
of Chernovtsy/ Bukovina in 1965-1967, before the mass exodus.
I've heard that the numbers were around 60.000-70.000, almost 1/3 of the
total population. If these numbers are confirmed, Cz indeed has a unique
place in Jewish history.
