Apropos Yiddish: FYI: Magnes Press has published several collections by Dr. Yosef Guri, the Dept. of Slavic and Russian Studies at the Hebrew University that might be of interest for those who wish to enjoy and recall their forefathers' wit: all present the Yiddish original followed by Hebrew, English and Russian equivalents as well as literal translations

Let's hear only Good News, 2004, 666 Yiddish blessings and curses
On the Tip of the Tongue, 2006, 500 Yiddish proverbs
The treasury of Yiddish Idioms, 2012, 2240 Yiddish idiomatic expressions

You can find these as well as others that preceded them on www.magnespress.co.il. New purchasers receive a 25% rebate on their first order.

Mordecai (no, regrettably, I have no Magnespress shares, but I found a lot of worthwhile publications on their list that enriched my library, in Hebrew as well as in English)
