[Cz-L] Toynbeehalle

 Marion was at the Toynbeehalle and sends us this picture.

   And this naturally brings back memories:

   On a Yom Kipur day before the war when my parents were inside
  praying , we the boys were playing in the yard.
    In the yard stood a cement mixer and soon we were all climbing
    and handling it.
     Nusyu was turning the tilting wheel and we were having fun.
   Until Moishale put his hand on the toothwheel and the drum
   wheel crashed his fingers..
      A few days later I was called up as a witness at the Prefectura
  on Ferdinandplatz where an inspector completed a questionaire:
    " What were you doing with the mixer ?" Playing.
    " What was Nusyu doing ?" Turned the wheel.
    " What was Moishale doing ? " Counting the teeth of the wheel.
      " What happened then? " Moishale shrieked very loud . His fingers were
gone.
      Moishales parents came from the Hall running and started beating
Nusyu..
       Nusyus parents came too and very soon pummeled Moyshales parents.
        Moishale was taken to the Polyclinic on the Shulgasse.
         I went home."

       This was my testimony on what happened on Yom Kipur at the
       Toynbeehalle in 1939 .
            Maybe 1940...
